Negotin region, famous for its heroism, natural beauty, and virtuoso Stevan Mokranjac but also for its top-notch wines! If you love homemade wines, made according to traditional recipes, then you must visit a place where people do not reside, but wines do: Wineries (Pimnice).

Wineries are specially crafted facilities where wine is produced and stored.

The most famous ones are Rajačke, Rogljevske, and Smedovačke wineries. Their hosts have made efforts to renovate some of them into modern functional spaces while retaining their specific ambiance. They have offered this space to tourists, and in the wineries, you can taste and buy wine. In some wineries, along with wine, you can enjoy local specialties of this region.

Rajačke wineries are located near the village of the same name, on a hillside next to the Timok River. They represent a unique architectural complex of wine cellars dating from the mid-18th to the 1930s. The complex consists of 270 wineries around a central square with a fountain. They are built of hewn stone and logs, covered with ceramic tiles. The cellars are partially dug into the ground to keep the temperature stable throughout the year, and on the upper floor, there are rooms for staying during harvest and wine nurturing.

The village of Rogljevo has a complex of about 150 wineries, most of which were built in the 19th century. Like other winery settlements, they are formed of irregular streets with a square in the center. The square features an inscription and a covered well as the cultural and gathering place of the village.

Unlike the previous complexes, the wineries in the village of Smedovac are located at the entrance to the village, on the road between Rogljevo and Rajac.

Where is it located?

The wineries are located in the villages near Negotin. The villages of Rajac, Rogljevo, and Smedovac are adjacent to each other. Rajačke wineries are about 20 km south of Negotin, Rogljevačke are about 18 km away, and Smedovačke are located at the entrance to the village of Smedovac, on the wine route between the villages of Rogljevo and Rajac.
