In the heart of Tekija, on the banks of the Danube, every year in the first half of August comes alive one of the oldest festivals of this region - ”Golden Bućka” of Djerdap. This traditional tourism-sports-fishing event, which lasts for three days, provides an unforgettable experience of fishing, competitions, delicious fish soup, and various sports activities.
”Golden Bućka” of Djerdap was first held in 1984, and since then, it has become an integral part of Tekija's cultural calendar. Over the course of three days, this place on the banks of the Danube becomes the center of fishing spirit and joy.
The main part of the event is the competition in catching catfish using the "bućka" method, a traditional way of fishing that lures fish from the depths. Experienced anglers compete to catch the largest catch, and the Danube River in this part hides catfish weighing more than 60 kg. The sound of "bućka" on the water echoes as competitors battle with the strength of their catches.
In addition to fishing, the competition extends to the preparation of fish soup. Culinary masters present their best recipes, creating an aroma that entices visitors and competitors to immerse themselves in the world of Danube flavors.
Additionally, visitors can enjoy beach volleyball, small football, and other sports competitions that further enrich the festival experience.
