Imagine being able to experience that simple yet uniquely special rural way of life. Waking up bathed in sunlight, surrounded by the chirping of birds and the scent of freshly baked bread.
Nestled near Knjaževac, in the courtyard of an old village school in the village of Ravna, lies the Arheo-Ethno Park, a sort of open-air museum. Here, you can explore an old Moravian-style house built of wattle and daub and relocated from Stara Planina, participate in various workshops, and learn many interesting facts about the significance of this region throughout history.
Arheo-Ethno Park Ravna was established due to its proximity to the ancient fort of Timacum Minus. Significant archaeological finds from Timacum Minus are housed within the archaeological exhibit in the school building.
This place is particularly attractive to lovers of customs and traditions because the park's ambiance takes you back two hundred years, to village life at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. In the basement of one of the houses, there is a wine museum with wine cellars, while the old village school within the complex serves as a research station for students where various scientific and research projects are carried out, and materials are processed.
In the courtyard, there is a lapidarium with Roman monuments found at the late-antique site of Timacum Minus. Thus, in Ravna, ethno motifs and tradition intertwine with distant history.
A workshop for making traditional pottery with replicas of ancient and traditional pottery kilns has been established within the park. Every year, the Local Museum organizes Summer Schools of Pottery, Conservation, and Archaeology in Ravna.
